sleeptalk what the phone heard

hello again

I made this in March 2017, wrote one post and forgot it existed. The domain renewed itself twice.

Élodie moved out on December 9th. Eight years. It was mostly calm, which somehow made it worse. She's staying with her sister in Saint-Hubert for now, and her sister is allergic, so Patate (orange, eleven, hers) is still here with me until Élodie finds a place that takes cats.

Near the end she told me I talk in my sleep. I sort of knew. She said it's more than that now. Whole conversations, back and forth. She switched to day shifts at the hospital in September, so for the first time in years she was home at night, and she got to hear all of it.

I asked what I say. She said, "Not much that makes sense," and changed the subject, and a few weeks later she left. Not because of that. I think.

So I downloaded an app called Lull. It sits on the night table, listens all night, and keeps the bits where something happens. Free for three nights, then $4.99.

I clean up recorded voices for a living. I figured I can at least listen to my own.
