laps Bronte to Belfast, thirty metres at a time

16,751.3 km to belfast

· 1 min

Back in the water since the 26th of March. Twenty lengths a morning, very slowly, breaststroke half the time. Raf is pleased with me and has stopped saying "at your age", or at least he's stopped saying it out loud.

A second postcard last week. Helen's Bay again, from the other side of the bay:

1,440 LENGTHS. 36 KM.
ORLA SAYS I AM IN THE SEA OFF ISLANDMAGEE.
B.

Orla is her granddaughter. Sixteen. I didn't know Bridie had a granddaughter. I didn't know she had a son, either, but it seems he's forty-two.

Lachie has redone the book. It's three colours now:

me (black) 10,350 lengths 310.5 km
Kirra (green) 440 lengths 13.2 km
Bridie (blue) 1,440 lengths 36.0 km
                                    359.7 km
to go 16,751.3 km

Kirra wanted a pin of her own for her 13.2. Lachie gave her a green one. It's in Chatswood.

I sent Bridie a postcard back. Bronte, from the cemetery end. On the back I copied out Lachie's table.
