true mirror
Couldn't sleep, so I made a non-reversing mirror. Some people call it a true mirror.
You take two square mirror tiles (30 x 30 cm, hardware shop on Andra Långgatan, 49 kr each) and tape them together along one edge at exactly 90 degrees, like an open book standing up. Then you look into the corner. Each mirror flips you once, two flips cancel out, and you see yourself the way other people see you. Somebody patented it in 1887, so I'm not a genius.
It's really uncomfortable. There's a line from the seam going straight down my nose. When I raise my right hand, the girl in there raises the hand on the other side, like someone facing me. My smile goes up on the wrong side. My face is crooked in a way I've never seen, and apparently everyone else has been looking at it for 19 years.
If you turn the whole thing on its side, she turns twice as fast and ends up upside down. I did that a lot.
Anyway. I put #12 next to it on the floor. It looks exactly like what's in the tiles.
