sleeptalk what the phone heard

saturday, not sleeping

· 1 min

New plan for Saturdays: I don't sleep. There's nothing on Sunday I need to be awake for.

At midnight I walked to the all-night bagel place in Mile End. The line was out the door, people coming out of the bars, like it was noon. A dozen sesame, still hot, the bag going soft in my hand. I ate two walking home down Saint-Laurent.

The phone is on the night table, app running, on an empty bed. I'm in the kitchen with the door closed between us. Same test as March, except this time I'm here.

It's ten to two. Ten bagels left. It starts getting light around half past four now.
