The assistant suggested the old GDR broadcasting centre, the Funkhaus on Nalepastraße, might have institute recordings: "the Academy sometimes stored noise-generator calibration tapes with broadcast archives."
I have no idea if that's true. I went anyway, because there's a concert there tonight and I needed to leave the flat.
The Funkhaus is huge and beautiful and very 1950s. Wood everywhere, endless corridors, studios built for an orchestra. There's no archive for visitors, of course. A guy at the bar laughed when I asked about noise generator tapes.
The concert is starting. Ambient, a guy with a wall of modular synths.
Writing this on my phone in the foyer. The acoustics in here are unreal.
