two euros
My old swimming towel finally gave up. Twelve years, from Hamburg to here, and this morning I put a thumb through it.
There's a household shop on Müllerstraße that sells everything: buckets, Turkish tea glasses, phone chargers, plastic flowers, mops. I went in for a towel and found a big blue one on a pile by the door. Two euros. I checked the label twice.
It's very blue. Swimming-pool blue, a bit too thin, and a bit scratchy, which the man at the counter said was a good sign. I don't think he meant it.
Plötzensee is cold enough this week that I'll need it.
