the accordion on the U8
There's an accordion player on the U8, usually between Gesundbrunnen and Alexanderplatz. Older guy, flat cap, one song: "Bella Ciao," slowed down until it's almost a lullaby.
He plays it wrong in the same place every time. Third line, one note too high. Always the same note, always the same spot. I've heard it maybe forty times now and it's become my favourite part.
No idea if he knows. Maybe he learned it wrong forty years ago and nobody ever told him.
I gave him two euros today. He nodded like we had an agreement.
