solstice
Thirty-one days. Shortest day of the year, which here means nothing, because there isn't one.
I wanted candles. Torill said there were candle holders "in the high cupboard," so I got the chair and opened the cupboard over the fridge properly for the first time. The pencil scribbles on the inside of the door aren't scribbles.
It's a chart. Squared paper, taped flat, written in pencil. One row per day. A date, a weekday, a little tally of three lines, a time. At the top, one word: bank. I read it as the English word first. In Norwegian et bank is a knock.
The first row is Wednesday 28/11. The time is 11.32.
I got down off the chair and sat on the kitchen floor for a while.
I'll copy it out tomorrow. I want to do it properly.
The candle holders were behind it. I lit two.
