mitad looking for the middle of the world

Sunday. The field belongs to Don Segundo. He's 74, has a hat older than me, and laughed for a full minute when I explained what I wanted.

"The middle of the world is in my corn?"

He has an argument with his neighbour about the boundary of his land, an old one, from his father's time. I told him I was a surveyor for 34 years. He went inside and came back with a folder of papers from 1962.

So we have a deal. I measure his boundary properly, for free. He lets an old man stand in his corn on the equinox.
