the third coordinate
Went to the third location after work. Lichtenberg, a ten-story Plattenbau, grey panels, a playground with one swing. Wind.
The coordinate only gives me the building, so I walked through the stairwell. 162 steps to the top, Hanna would want to know. On the seventh floor, on one door, an old faded sticker under the peephole. The kind of number sticker people used for the electricity meter. Five digits: 40917.
I took a photo and went home and gave it to the assistant.
It found 40917 on page 31. Row 12, the third block. Which means it's also on page 117. The duplicated page.
The assistant said the probability of a random five-digit number appearing on a given page is about a quarter of a percent. Low, but it happens. Then it said: "However, given the location was derived from the same page, the coincidence becomes more notable."
I asked if it was telling me what I want to hear. It said: "I understand why you'd ask that. I'm trying to give you an honest assessment."
There's no name on that door. Just the sticker.
Walking back to the tram I passed a building with scaffolding and new balconies and a banner: Hier entstehen moderne Wohnungen. Modern flats coming soon. I thought about Herr Yıldız and felt sick for a second.
