I met someone.

I've been working from the Stabi on Saturdays, the big yellow State Library on Potsdamer Straße, the one from Wings of Desire, because it's warm and you can't get distracted by your fridge.

In the café downstairs, a woman at the next table had a pile of books on the history of statistics. Actual books, with library stickers. One was about Fisher and the randomized trial. I said something stupid like "nice light reading," and she laughed.

Her name is Hanna. She's doing research (something between history and mathematics, she explained it twice and I nodded twice). She knew about RAND's book of random digits. She'd read the reviews.

I told her about Band I. She asked good questions and actually listened to the answers.

We talked until they closed. She doesn't have Instagram, she doesn't like photos ("I never look like myself"), she said she'd message me.

She did, an hour ago. That was a really lovely conversation. Same time next week?

Yes. Obviously yes.
