Letter in every mailbox this morning. The building has been sold. The new owner is something called Spreeblick Wohnen GmbH, with an address in Charlottenburg and a logo that looks like a stock photo of a wave.
"We look forward to a good and long-term cooperation," it says. In Berlin that sentence makes people nervous.
Herr Yıldız from the ground floor (the watermelon man from last summer) was standing in the courtyard reading it with his glasses pushed up on his forehead. He's lived here since 1979.
"Jetzt geht's los," he said. Now it starts.
