off by one notes, mostly

hello again, world

I set this site up in January 2019, wrote one post, and then nothing for two and a half years. I kept paying for the domain like an idiot. So here we are, trying again.

Some context, for nobody: I'm a backend developer. I write code that moves pallets around Europe, or rather, code that tells other code where the pallets are. I've lived in Berlin since 2015. Wedding, fourth floor, no lift. I work from home now, like everybody, and I have started talking to my plants, which is how I know it's time to write things down again.

There's no plan. I'll write about whatever I'm doing, which is mostly work and walking around.

Speaking of reading: yesterday at the Mauerpark flea market I bought the most boring book in the world. Three euros. It's from 1962, East Berlin, and it contains nothing but numbers. Two hundred pages of random digits.

I'm unreasonably happy about it. More soon.
