tuesday
Tuesday. No knock.
I was at the door from eleven. At 11:53 I had my hand on the handle. At noon I opened it anyway. I stayed until one, then two, then I sat at the table with the door in sight until it got dark again, which isn't saying much here.
Nothing. The empty row was right.
I should be relieved. It's what I wanted. Six days of nothing, and then the sun, and then home.
I can't remember the last time I slept. Sunday, maybe.
Kjell came out at four to salt the path and called up to ask if everything was all right. I said yes. He said, "It's coming back, you know. You can feel it already." I don't know if he meant the sun.
