equinox, attempt 1

· 1 min

Today is the equinox. At solar noon the sun is straight above the equator, and anything standing exactly on the line has no shadow at all. That's the plan: stand on the true line at the right minute and look down.

I don't have an exact spot yet, so I went to the parking area behind the souvenir shop, where the Garmin got closest in June.

It rained. Not drizzle. Quito rain, the kind that makes the gutters sing. Solar noon came and went under my umbrella.

A security guard asked if I was waiting for someone. I said yes, the sun.

Next one is in March.
