st. anne's
Thursday. Lucie made the appointment from Edinburgh, which is how I know she's worried.
The memory clinic at St. Anne's is very kind and very beige. A young doctor asked me to remember five words, to count backwards in sevens from a hundred, and to draw a clock showing ten past eleven.
I drew a very good clock. All twelve numbers, in the right places. Then I drew a small bell above the twelve, without thinking, and she asked what it was. I said, "That's Brno."
She said she sees nothing worrying today, and I should come back in six months. I remembered all five words. I'm writing them here so I can check later: lemon, key, ball, river, chair.
